Expo Faces: Fatima Masimli, Economics student

‘Expo Faces’ is a series of stories looking at the faces and voices of people across Azerbaijan who support Baku’s bid to host World Expo 2025. Today we hear from Fatima Masimli (20), who is a member of the Group of 25 and a 2nd year Economics student.

Hi, my name is Fatima and I’m in my 2nd year at Azerbaijan State Economic University, where I study Economics. Alongside my studies I work as a Volunteer Project Manager at “IRELI” Public Union, which organises events to help young people in Azerbaijan develop themselves.

I want to use my education and the opportunities that Azerbaijan has given me to become an active contributor to society. I was a finalist of “Made in Azerbaijan 2017”, where I created a business idea to stimulate the export of non-oil products. I am eager to continue to learn from and participate in the many events and activities that the universities, government ministries and organisations in Azerbaijan arrange so that I can make a positive impact in the country.

I think that Expo 2025 Baku would encourage young people to learn how they can make a difference to the world. Azerbaijan has shown how enthusiastic it is to bring people together through events like the European Games, and at Expo 2025 Baku we would be able to share ideas with other countries on how to create opportunities in education so that people can reach their full potential and benefit society.
