Expo Faces: Mehri Gulamova, Chess Champion

‘Expo Faces’ is a series of stories looking at the faces and voices of people across Azerbaijan who support Baku’s bid to host World Expo 2025. Today we hear from Mehri Gulamova (19), who is a member of the Group of 25 and a national Chess Champion.

Hello my name is Mehri, I am 19 years old and I am studying business administration at Azerbaijan State University of Economics. One of my proudest achievements is that I won first place among girls in the National Chess Olympics. In my free time I enjoy scout activities like camping and spending time with friends.

For me, my greatest desire to be able to do useful things for the next generation. As a team member of the Group of 25, I hope to be able to do the best for young people of the future by bringing World Expo 2025 to Azerbaijan! This would be an amazing chance for young people to volunteer, meet people from across the world, hear new ideas and see new technology. I think Baku could host an amazing event and I would love to invite the world to enjoy the food and culture and hospitality that make our people and country unique.
