Expo Faces: Ayisha Maharramova, Chemical Engineer

‘Expo Faces’ is a series of articles looking at the faces and voices of people across Azerbaijan who support Baku’s bid to host World Expo 2025. Today we hear from Ayisha Maharramova (19), who is studying chemical engineering at Baku Higher Oil School.

Hi, my name is Ayisha and I am studying to be a chemical engineer in Baku. I speak Russian, Azerbaijani and English and am also learning German, Turkish and Spanish. I am a member of the Group of 25 and my hobbies include playing chess and soccer.

My aspiration in life is to be happy and make others happy and also to be an inspiration for young generations that will follow in our footsteps. I believe that a World Expo in Baku will be a great opportunity for the Baku and the people of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan is multicultural country, which has embraced people from diverse backgrounds for centuries and so our values fit closely with the Expo movement. All people will feel welcome here and I believe an Expo in Baku would be an amazing experience for both local people and international tourists.

I hope that we can host World Expo 2025 to show the world our rich culture and to bring benefits to Azerbaijan through job creation, building new businesses, bringing new tourists and developing our human capital.
